  2. It makes you think about how different companies grow. Seeing so many likes on this video shows lots of people are curious about this stuff! If you found this helpful, you might find some interesting things on my channel, which talks about things like funding, credit, and how people handle their money.

  3. "They recruit from all over the world, I live in the world" lol dig it

glad to see YC agrees the VC path isn't a fit for most companies, including tech companies + startups

I see YC fans + alumni keep pushing their content though to me and so they seem to indicate most of the advice still works for me…I don't think so. Wish there was a "YC without the VC" or "YC for the rest of us"

  4. Only criticism I have of this take is that YC invests in primarily B2B and B2C SAAS companies that require very little capital. you are not investing in nuclear power plants that costs billions to construct. so you are essentially selecting a very narrow band of potential companies that fit the tech startup mold

  5. Microsoft was as good as bootstrapped. They raised a small round just to get Dave Marquardt on the board. However, they never used that money. (Source: Acquired Podcast on Microsoft).

  6. Well not sure if all of that is true. Was Epic bootstrapped? Don’t think that could happen today but that’s some of the most successful software companies in America

  7. Small nitpick on the the fact that all trillion dollar companies are VC funded: Microsoft did receive 1 mio from TVI, their only investor , but never touched a cent of it. Realistically they werent "funded" by anyone, it was just part of the deal to get TVI on board
