Thank you, Kevin. I've been looking for an alternative to Lightroom because my version is no longer supported, and I can't justify the cost for an update. I think Dark Table, RawTherapee Gimp are worth a try. Does someone know which of these three are the best for organizing photos for archiving?

How does ON1 compare to GIMP?
I used Photoshop and Lightroom for years, but when they made it subscription and prices when sky high, I dropped them. I went to Gimp, but the learning curve is very steep. What I need right now is a crop function that will crop to established paper sizes, A4, A3, etc. Any suggestions?

I love the simple, basic functions of the Microsoft Photos app.
However, recent updates have "improved" it to the point that it is no longer useable to me.
Can you suggest any super simple apps comparable to what Photos was when this video was made.
I hate having to reinstall an old version of Photos every day in order to have a functional editor as Microsoft keeps updating it no matter what I do. Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thank you.

Windows photos has come a long way but still missing basic features like text & pick tools. Seriously Microsoft needs to be competitive by integrating Draw, Photos, Edit, and Snip into ONE Suite and take a look at the best features of the others and create an interface for those getting dumber by the day…like me.
– I am still using Photoshop CS3 and it fits like and old glove but its getting dated and AI can auto fix alot of stuff yet I just cant buy into the whole subscription based thing.
I just took a look at Affinity Photo 2 and its very good.. DARN good. The closest to toppling the king if you will and there are no sub fees and its relative cheap.
Irfanview was great as a photo viewer when Microsoft broke the best viewer they ever made. I used it until i figured out how to make entries into the registry to bring back the great one. [ wonder who directed me at that 🙂
Darktable and Rawtherapy are unknown to me but im down with checking them out… I like keeping my options open
Ive used GIMP over the years since i played around with Linux back in the day.. truly the best free one.
ACDSEE is another one not on this list but is just to complicated.. Having said that it has a PHENOMINAL image viewer.. Highly recommend this for indexing and sorting your photo collections.. yeah its even better than Adobe Bridge.
